Oakland Zoo

Today we went to the Oakland Zoo. It was a great day to go. It was overcast and a little drizzly so the zoo was not crowded at all. It was so much fun looking at the animals. Ellie's favorite were the flamingos, Mason's favorite was the elephant, and Cassidy's favorites were the giraffes and the zebras. The chimpanzees were lively today and put on an entertaining show. They were moving all around, pushing a wagon and making awesome noises. I was personally impressed by watching the otters swim. I think the winning moment of the day was witnessing the elephant poop and pee. That was quite a sight for all of us!

Pixieland

We love to go to Pixieland! My mom and I were trying to figure out how long this place has been around. I went there when I was Mason's age so that's at least 25 years ago, and even then it had been around awhile. We always have a good time. This visit was the first time that Ellie and Cassidy went on the roller coaster. It was pretty fast! Ellie liked it. Cassidy was a little scared, but happy that she was brave enough to try it!

Lindsay Wildlife Museum

We had fun today exploring the Lindsay Museum. This is a place where they rescue injured wild animals and rehabilitate them back into the wild. There are some animals that would never survive in the wild after their injuries, so they keep those ones and the public gets to come and see them. We saw a bald eagle, lots of owls, an opposum, a fox and lots more. It was pretty cool, because we were able to watch the vets do an exam on a hawk that had been injured. They also bring animals out that the kids can pet. Today Ellie and Mason got to pet a hamster and a snake.  Very brave kids!

Tilden park

Today we went to the Little Farm at Tilden Park in Berkeley. We saw cows, chickens, pigs, bunnies, goats, and sheep. We brought lots of celery to feed them! Mason always loves to feed the animals and jumps right into it. Ellie doesn't like the idea at all. Last time we went she was determined to feed a goat before we left, but only ended up throwing the celery at it because she was so scared. Today Ellie fed 3 different animals! She fed 2 different goats and a sheep. She was very proud of herself. It was hard for her to do, but she did it! Cassidy didn't want to try today, but maybe next time she will!

Peach Picking

We went to pick peaches today! Aunt Brooke came with us. It was a new experience for us all. The kids loved it, especially climbing on the tall ladders. Now we have about 15 pounds of peaches to enjoy.
