Beach

Last week, we headed to Southern California to begin our family vacation. We went to see Geoff and Erin and cute Cora and Jane. They were great hosts and fed us well! We decided to head to the beach one evening and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. It was a beautiful night and so fun to be with everyone!

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Ellie's 7th Birthday!

Ellie is 7! Wow! We had a wonderful weekend celebrating. Friday after school we had her friend party. It was all about Frozen and all the kids seemed to have a great time! We played "Pin the nose on Olaf," we built a snowman out of marshmallows, had a snowball fight, made beaded necklaces and played freeze dance to the Frozen soundtrack. 

Saturday Ellie chose to go to Jimmy John's for dinner. This is the third year in a row she's chosen this place for her birthday meal. 

On Sunday we celebrated Ellie's actual birthday. She opened her presents and requested Grandma Fotheringham's noodles for dinner. We also walked around BYU and enjoyed the beautiful, quiet campus. Since she had cupcakes for her party, Ellie decided that she wanted rootbeer floats for her birthday dessert. They were delicious! What a great birthday for such a great girl. 

Preschool

Cassidy had her first day of preschool today. She was super excited.  I asked her last night if she was nervous about anything. She said she was worried that her teacher, Miss Morgan, might let the pet bunny loose on the playground. Luckily, Ellie reassured her that that never happened when she went to preschool there. That eased Cassidy's mind. Cassidy had a great time! She can't wait to go back. Her teacher sent me an email today telling me how Cassidy did on her first day. She said she was mindful of her peers, polite and kind. She says she has a kind heart just like her sister, and that she actively participated and seemed to be enjoying every part of school. I'm so happy she is happy!

Cassidy had her first soccer game today. She definitely knew what to do after spending hours watching her brother and sister play. She didn't hesitate to get right in there. She's pretty cute in her uniform too!

Soccer

Ellie had her first game tonight. She's on the 1st/2nd grade team which means she plays on a field twice the size of last year and with goalies. Ellie (#5) played so well! She really knows where to be on the field and where to position herself. That must come naturally to her because I know very little about soccer and definitely didn't teach her that! Good job, Ellie!

Back to School!

Mason is in 3rd grade and Ellie is in 1st. I can't believe how much they are growing up! It was still a little hard for me to let them be away from home for so long. Even though they fight, I love having us all together. The kids reported having a fantastic first day of school. They both really like their teachers and they have friends in their classes. Ellie loves eating lunch at school and Mason's teacher already said she's going to need to challenge him! He loved hearing that. Yay! I love it when they are excited for school!
